Graduate School Portfolio Preparation
Advanced Admissions Program

Graduate Portfolio Expectations

Graduate school portfolios must demonstrate a high level of specialization and conceptual depth. Unlike undergraduate portfolios, graduate submissions are expected to consist primarily of work within the applicant’s intended field of study.

For applicants entering a three-year graduate program from a non-art major, a Foundation Portfolio may be required to demonstrate readiness for advanced studio-level training.

In all cases, portfolios must reflect:

  • Thorough preparation

  • Clear artistic direction

  • Technical competence

  • Conceptual development

  • Readiness for independent and advanced work

Graduate admissions committees evaluate not only skill, but also the maturity and clarity of the applicant’s artistic vision.

Our Approach

Manhattan Art provides graduate portfolio preparation under the guidance of experienced instructors who have completed advanced degree programs and understand the expectations of competitive admissions.
